Experience Of A Lifetime

I am not a religious girl. I don't know how I feel about fate. And I certainly don't believe in horoscopes, tarot cards, or adding up a bunch of dates to determine my "numerology".

BUT

Every so often, the stars/moon/sun/toes of a buddha align & everything works out as it supposed to.

Case in point?

I get to eat with this guy tomorrow night:

Don't recognize him? Well then you must not like food.

His name is Grant Achatz. The genius chef who wins the Oscar of culinary awards every year. He has 2 restaurants in Chicago, Alinea & the recently opened, Next. Both are crazy expensive and offer once in a lifetime culinary experiences. At least that's what I've heard.

Here's the fate part: In January, Jeremy & I were supposed to go to Alinea to celebrate our ONE YEAR OF LOVE (he loves it when I say that). Various coincidences kept us from keeping our reservation.

Cut to Tuesday morning at 9:48 when one of my besties, NicoleBoyceWright, invited us to join her & her husband at Next tomorrow night. This is an especially huge coup as Next doesn't take reservations, instead, it's a lottery-based ticket system. Getting picked is all luck. Or fate. Or one big fat coincidence. To that end, had J & I made our reservation in January, we never would have been able to justify this second food-based expenditure. And this one is absolutely the best best best of the best.

The Next menu here in Chicago is based on the dishes served at El Bulli, the recently closed #1 restaurant in the world. There are 28 courses. A choreographed waitstaff. Never-been-done-before-drinks. It's a 4 hour experience.

Ferran Aldria and his staff at El Bulli (located off the coast of Spain).

Call it fate or luck or coincidence. Don't care. I'm just thrilled my moon is in the 7th house of 12th sun.
