Thank You For Summer-ing

Hope you're sitting down for the following big reveal on day 3:

I'm just so-so on summer.

WHAT?! Blasphemy!

Fact. I secretly (or I suppose now, not-so-secretly) covet cold winter days that leave me feeling guilt-free for having spent the day on my couch catching up on bad TV, re'orging my closet for the 15th time, and maybe even sitting through a Kate Hudson movie I've seen (and don't like, but can't look away from).

In the summer, there's just so much PRESSURE to be outside. The sun. The outdoor eating (also not a favorite, to be discussed at a later date). The obligation to drink iced tea.

I like layers.

Know what else? I don't love the lake. I mean, I like the lake. Running along it can be lovely. It certainly makes our city unlike any other. But do I yearn for it in February while I'm curled up on the couch with a cup of hot chocolate? Nope.

As per usual, I sound super fun.

At the risk of contradicting myself, I will admit to liking the occasional gathering of people around an outdoor cooking machine.

Some people call it a BBQ.

For me to want to be at said event, it must include the following ingredients:

1) Beergaritas and guacamole.

 2) Favorites.

See? I'm easy to please.

p.s. Happy birthday, penguin.
